Success v. Acquaintance

Sometimes I feel like people who succeed in life have few friends, if any. I once thought it didn't matter since I hardly found anyone I could trust. Nowadays, I somewhat wish I could bridge the differences between me and people around my age. That is hard to do however because few people like me try to do extraordinary things in their youthhood while they still have the chance. The board games that interest me that I can make my peers a part of are what they call " boring, time-consuming stuff that requires a lot of thinking". They also seemed to hint that they thought I was too smart for them too, but that couldn't have been proven since nobody accepted my challenges. Although, I am grateful for being given something to esteem myself with.

Somehow, stuff that calls for a lot of thinking sounds exactly like why more people should be involved in. I found out that the teen years are the best years for humans to do the best that they can do. This goes back to my school senior project.

The thing is my success in life feels like a divider between me and friendship. But the real problem is almost nobody is as considerate of the future as I am. The way I see it, the more time you spend making unwise choices and staying unprepared for the future, the less you will have accomplished, and succeeded in when everything comes full circle.

School Schedule Screw-ups

Throughout the whole school semester, I and many of my other collegues have had to deal with the pressure of having so many sudden school changes and schedule revisions. We now have 4 lunch periods instead of 3, and the exams took place 2 weeks before the semester is set to end. At first I thought the new lunch schedule would be helpful to us, but it turned out to appear to most of us as a boundary that separates us from our school mates we are closely acquainted to. I used to not take that into consideration since I was not ready to declare myself a "friend" of anyone's at school. That was when I considered the fact that people my age often let me down when I trust them with anything. However, I found myself closer to others in the friendship status when I got tired of introversion for the first time in my life.

Also, the regular exam days were organized so that 2 exams would happen on 1 day and the last 2 on the next day. Afterwards, the Algebra, English, and Biology I exams for freshmen took place and the people who weren't in them had 4hr.-and-40-min. blocks, then lunch and block before the last one for the rest of the day. In other words, 4th came before 3rd, 3rd before 2nd, and so on until the day 1st was supposed to come before 4th (today). Apparantly, we went back to regular schedule since the other exam-takers did so well. I congragulate them for doing good, but I wish the original plan was kept instead of changed at the last minute.

What I really don't understand is why the exams were set up so that there would be 2 weeks worth of time to make up for them if needed. Because of this, my Chemistry class had to cover a whole test-grade subject after the exams, and we are still working on it!

A Life of Fortune and Misfortunes

They say that life goes on, but how many actually think about what that means? Throughout life people around us constantly give theirselves morale boosters but sometimes, those boosters comeout as nothing but empty words. Strife, challenges, and suffering come to people randomly and often can't be avoided when they have not been predicted. What's even more unsettling is the fact that the misfortune that is predicted is often arbitrarily avoided or ignored and that leads to even more problems.

I myself have had to face many challenges in my life. Sooner or later, I had to choose between woorying about the past and thus avoiding the problems and make things worse, or telling myself to just wing them as they came since those moments were part of the present. Often times when I chose door # 2 of those options, I found myself reaping the rewards which quite often turn out to be worth the difficulty of the challenge. I certainly hope others are either making, or will make the decision to accept and embrace hardships of reality as well.

The best rewards in life are the ones that come from doing the hardest deeds possible. One example of that is when I had to finish a project for the BSA to become an Eagle Scout. I spent almost the whole Summer dealing with it even though my family and I had a long history of lacking self-motivation. I admit that we all caught it in the butt with each other on several occasions of that subject, but since it was the present during that Summer, I decided to make something of the time that was left to work on the project. When Summer ended, all the trouble of working on it paid off and I succeeded in the end. I became an Eagle Scout and now my family has a more positive piece of history to think about.

By the way, I'm not calling myself perfect in this area. Heck, I still struggle with getting out of old complications and common, unhappy habits. For example, I sometimes have to make choices that could negatively affect people while benefitting others. In another case, I can't think of every single thing in life that disturbs my well-being at the same time so whenever I talk to others about my problems, I nearly always seem to have forgotten something to mention after each talk. In spite of these hardships, I'm still trying to do what I can to go on. Quite honestly, I know everyone else in the world has something that's nagging their peace.

Game Icons v. Game machines

I am aware of various icons that people attach theirselves to when it comes to popular video games. Some go back to the days before most of their fans were even born. Examples: Mario, Zelda, Sonic. Over time, Various people have chosen different favorites and practically grew up on them. But then, I have noticed more talk about the systems they are played on. A few of the familiar faces of my life have chosen between series favorites. as for the rest, I either don't know what their favorite icons are or hear them talk about video game systems too much.

The way I see it, the essence of video gaming is divided between the shell (the system), the outside influence (the player), and the true inner source of its greatness (the game itself). What disturbs me about all this system talk is the possibility that all these rivaling system debates are causing people to dwell on systems more than icons.

It seems to me that there should be more consideration and points made about the subjects of games than there are now. This way, video gaming can still be recognized as a good way for people to entertain theirselves and each other.
